Following the shooting, Shah was rushed to the hospital with injuries, but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.

Shah was believed to be a close friend of Balaj and was accused of providing information to key suspects, including Teefi Butt, about Balaj’s presence at a wedding party in Chuhng. On February 19, Balaj was murdered by a hitman named Muzaffar Hussain. The assailant was subsequently killed on the spot by Balaj’s bodyguards.

Ameer Balaj’s father, Tipu Truckanwala, was also killed in a gun attack at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport in 2010.
