NEW YORK: The New York Mets would win their second game of the National League Championship Series on Friday, keeping their pennant hopes alive.
After escaping early trouble in the top of the first as both Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts were stranded on base, the Mets would be the first to strike in the bottom of the inning, courtesy of a ball lifted to right centre field by Pete Alonso for a three-run home run.
The Dodgers would reduce the lead after Kike Hernandez came into score from third on a wild pitch by David Peterson to Ohtani,
The Mets would be close to respond right back, with what seemed to be their second home run of the game as Francisco Lindor hit a ball high and long down the line, but it ended up going foul. A few pitched later, Lindor would almost homer again, with a ball that was caught right at the wall.
