ISLAMABAD: Renowned Pakistani actor Ahad Raza Mir, who had come under severe criticism for doing a bold scene in the Hollywood series ‘Resident Evil’ , said that while working in international projects some things are their requirements that cannot be refused.

In the Netflix series, Ahad Raza Mir played the character of Arjun Batra, a researcher in Madrid University where he meets his colleague Jade Wesker. Ahad’s bold scenes with his female co-star had earned him the ire of public back home.

Speaking on a recent podcast, Ahad discussed the scene in the Netflix project, acknowledging that he anticipated a strong public reaction.

“It was a daunting experience because I knew people would criticize it,” he admitted. However, he highlighted the double standards in the industry, pointing out that scenes depicting violence, slapping, and abuse in local dramas are widely accepted without backlash.

He added, “People only seem to have a problem when we show love or intimacy on screen. Pakistani viewers watch Bollywood and Hollywood films without hesitation but criticize their own artists.”

Ahad further explained that working on international projects, especially in places like the UK, often comes with creative requirements that cannot always be refused.

The actor, son of veteran Asif Raza Mir, is set to make a return to Pakistani dramas with the upcoming show “M Se Mohabbat”.
