KARACHI: The female elephant Madhubala is being relocated to Safari Park today, from Karachi Zoo. As per latest report, the process of transportation has commenced.
Madhubala is being transferred under the supervision of Dr Aamir Khalili, and she will be kept in the Safari Park with Sonu and Malika. She will be taken via Sohrab Goth route.
The Austrian NGO, Four Paws, is overseeing the relocation process, after it submitted a report detailing that the Karachi Zoo is not fit for Madhubala’s habitation.
Now the elephant will stay in Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) Safari Park, where she will have access to an international standard enclosure and swimming pool, and two other female companions as well.
The park management has said that in the beginning, Madhubala will be kept in Block A, separate from Sonia and Malka who will stay in Block B. With time, as they become familiar with each other, the blocks will be merged.
