Dry, cold weather predicted for Sunday

WEB DESK: The weather is expected to be cold and dry in most parts of the country on Sunday, with extreme cold predicted for the hilly areas, said Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

Fog is also expected at a few places in the upper areas in the morning. Smog with moderate to heavy fog is expected in most of the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and central Sindh in the early morning and night hours.

Going region by region, the capital Islamabad and surrounding areas will get cold and dry weather on Sunday. Fog is also expected at a few places in the morning in and around Islamabad. There might be smog in Rawalpindi in the morning as well.

In Punjab, PMD predicts the weather to be cold and dry in most of the districts of the province, including Murree, Galiyat and its surroundings. Moderate to heavy fog along with potential smog is expected in Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Mangla, Jhelum, Sheikhupura, Okara, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Khushab, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Jhang, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, DG Khan and surrounding areas during the night and morning hours. While fog is also expected at a few places in the Potohar region during the morning hours.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well, the weather is likely to be cold and dry in most districts, while it will be extremely cold in the hilly areas. Fog is expected at a few places in Swabi, Mardan, Peshawar, Nowshera, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and surrounding areas during the morning and night hours.

Likewise, in Sindh, the weather will be cold and dry in most districts of the province. However, moderate to heavy fog along with smog is likely in Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Khairpur, Mohenjo Daro and surrounding areas during the morning and night hours.

Balochistan will also get cold and dry weather in most districts, with the hilly areas in the province likely to get extremely cold in the early morning and night hours.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will receive cold and dry weather as well, PMD said on Sunday.
