LAHORE: Renowned television and stage comedian Javed Kodu passed away in Lahore on Saturday night after a prolonged illness.

He was best known for his roles in popular television plays such as Khawahish, Ainak Wala Jinn, and Aashiana.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of the veteran artist.

In his condolence message, the prime minister prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and extended sympathies to the bereaved family.

He said Javed Kodu was known for his short height but towering talent, adding that his passing has left a void in the media industry that can never be filled.

Earlier, Naseer Soomro, One of the world’s tallest men, died in Shikarpur on March 17 following a protracted illness. He was 55.

Soomro, who was 7 feet 9 inches tall, had been afflicted with a lung condition for several months. Due to respiratory issues, he had been admitted to the hospital on many occasions and had treatment in Karachi.

After exhibiting indications of recovery, he was sent back to his village from a private hospital in Karachi last year. But in recent months, his condition worsened much worse, and even with continuous care, he was unable to live.
