DPM, DG ISPR to hold joint presser on post-Pahalgam tensions today

DG ISPR and DPM Dar press conference

ISLAMABAD:  Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, will address a joint press conference today (Wednesday) at 7:30pm.

According to reports, the briefing will focus on the regional security situation following the Pahalgam attack and India’s increasing aggression.

The presser comes amid escalating tensions between Indian and Pakistan, with Pakistan claiming to have ‘solid intelligence‘ indicating that India intends to take military action against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours.

The backdrop to the current crisis includes India’s recent suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, a critical agreement governing water-sharing rights between the two nuclear-armed states.

Following the Pahalgam attack, India accused Pakistan of involvement without any proof, leading to a diplomatic crisis.

Responding to Indian accusations, DG ISPR said while addressing a press conference Tuesday that India failed to provide any credible proof to back its baseless allegations against Pakistan.

Rejecting the accusations, he said it is India, which has not only been supporting terrorist networks but also supplying improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other weapons to carry out attacks in Pakistan.

He also presented stern evidences of India’s role in sponsoring terrorism and financing militant activities inside Pakistan.

Providing a recent example, DG ISPR said a trained Indian-backed terrorist was apprehended on April 25 from the Jhelum bus stand.

The suspect was found in possession of an IED, two mobile phones, and Rs70,000 in cash.

A subsequent raid on his house uncovered an Indian-manufactured drone and Rs1 million in cash, he revealed, adding that the seized items had undergone forensic analysis.

DG ISPR further said that a serving officer of the Indian army, named Sikhwinder Singh, was in contact within the arrested terrorists. “This Indian army officer directed the terrorist to carry out terroristic activities from Balochistan to Lahore.”
