Sunday to sizzle across Pakistan, with rain up north

WEB DESK: On Sunday, the weather is likely to be hot and dry in most parts of the country, while the plains are likely to be very hot during the day. However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) also predicts strong winds and thundershowers at a few places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas in the evening and night.
Going region by region, the weather is likely to be very hot and dry in Islamabad and its surrounding areas during the day. However, temperatures will fall in the evening, and it will be partly cloudy with strong winds and thundershowers at a few places.
In Punjab, most districts are likely to be under the influence of intense heat wave during the day. However, later in the day some areas are likely to be partly cloudy with gusty winds and thundershowers, including, Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Khushab, Mandi Bahauddin, and Gujrat. Strong, dusty winds are also expected in the central and southern districts of the province in the afternoon.
Likewise, hot and dry weather is likely to persist in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while extremely hot weather is likely in southern and central districts during the day. However, in the evening and night, partly cloudy skies are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kurram, Khyber, Waziristan and surrounding areas, with the possibility of rain with strong winds and thundershowers at a few places.
Sindh will also get very hot and dry weather in most districts, with strong and dusty winds are expected in the afternoon. Hot weather is also likely in most districts of Balochistan, while extremely hot weather is predicted for the southern districts. Strong winds are expected during this period as well, says PMD.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, during the day the weather will be hit and dry, but in the later hours, partly cloudy skies are likely in a few places. There is also a possibility of rain with strong winds and thundershowers in some areas.
Hot and dry weather is also likely in Kashmir during the day. However, during the evening and night hours, it will remain partly cloudy with a possibility of rain at a few places with strong winds and thunderstorms at a few places.
