Caretaker govt sets new target for textile export

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Commerce, Industries and Production Minister Dr Gohar Ejaz has set an ambitious textile export target of $25 billion for the current financial year, a substantial increase from the $16 billion goal of the previous year.
During a meeting with the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association led by Khurram Mukhtiar, Dr Ejaz expressed his determination to swiftly revive closed industries within the country within one month.
He assured the reopening of all industries currently shut down due to various reasons by September 30.
Comparing the target to last year’s $16 billion, Dr Ejaz expressed confidence in surpassing it and pledged to address challenges obstructing industrial operations. He expressed willingness to engage with stakeholders, including industrialists, and visit their premises if necessary.
He requested a comprehensive list of dormant industries along with their issues and promised to resolve pending funds owed by various departments.
Dr Ejaz emphasized his commitment to resolving challenges related to gas, electricity, energy, and fund disbursement, ensuring a thriving business environment.
