Electricity price likely to go down for one month

ISLAMABAD: The per unit price of electricity may go down by 70 paisas (Rs 0.70) for one month, sources said on Wednesday.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a request for reduction in electricity prices for the monthly fuel adjustment for the month of September.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is scheduled to hear the CPPA plea on October 30.

The request submitted by the CPPA also shared details of the sources and costs of the electricity generation for the month of September. The report said that the most expensive electricity was generated from furnace oil at Rs 30.29 per unit.
During the same time period, the electricity generated from LNG cost Rs 24.95 per unit.
The request also said that 30.75 per cent of the total electricity generation in September was from the hydel power, 10.10 per cent came from local coal power plants, and 9.20 per cent from imported coal power plants.
