OGDCL starts natural gas production from Uch-35 well in Balochistan

OGDCL gas discovery Balochistan

WEB DESK: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s largest oil and gas exploration company, has begun producing natural gas from the Uch-35 well, located in Dera Bugti district, Balochistan.

This was announced in a recent notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

The Uch-35 well, drilled to a depth of 1,345 metres using their in-house expertise, is currently producing 5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD). The well targets Sui Main Limestone formation, known for its hydrocarbon potential.

OGDCL also shared the gas is being transported to Uch Gas Processing Plant by a 1.2-kilometre pipeline.

This enables a steady gas supply to Uch Power Limited (UPL). With a 100 per cent stake in the Uch Development & Production Lease, OGDCL holds a key position in this field.

According to Business Recorder, the company underscored its focus on aligning exploration, drilling, and development activities to boost production and contribute to the country’s energy security.

In its latest financial report, OGDCL posted profit-after-tax of Rs41.02 billion for the quarter ending on September 30, marking 16 per cent reduction compared to Rs49.03 billion in same quarter last year.

Earnings per share (EPS) also fell to Rs9.54, down from Rs11.40 in previous year.
