Gold prices remain unchanged in Pakistan as global market stays flat

KARACHI: Gold prices remained unchanged in Pakistan on Saturday, mirroring the stability in the international market.
According to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of gold stood at Rs349,700 per tola, the same as the day before. Similarly, the rate for 10 grammes of gold also held steady at Rs299,811.
The local market had seen a slight dip on Friday, when the per tola price dropped by Rs300 to settle at Rs349,700.
Internationally, the gold rate also showed no movement on Saturday. The APGJSA reported the global price at $3,326 per ounce, including a premium of $20 — unchanged from the previous session.
Silver prices in the domestic market remained stable as well, with the per tola rate recorded at Rs3,417.
Weekly close: PKR edges lower, PSX posts gains
The Pakistani rupee (PKR) ended the week slightly weaker against the US dollar. In Friday’s interbank session, the rupee slipped by 9.76 paisa, or 0.03 per cent, closing at PKR280.72 per dollar compared to the previous day’s rate of PKR280.62.
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) wrapped up the week on a positive note. The benchmark KSE-100 Index gained 414.45 points, or 0.35 per cent, to close at 117,315.58 during Friday’s trading.
Throughout the day, the index fluctuated within a range of 1,129.06 points. It touched an intraday high of 117,888.13, up by 987 points, and a low of 116,759.07, down by 142.06 points.
Trading volume for the KSE-100 Index stood at 212.79 million shares.
