Gold rate soars to historic high of Rs272,500 per tola

KARACHI: Gold prices in Pakistan continued their upward trend on Saturday, following a rise in international markets. In the local market, the price of gold increased by Rs500, reaching a record high of Rs272,500 per tola.

According to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price for 10 grammes of gold also saw an uptick, rising by Rs429 to Rs233,625.

This follows Friday’s sharp increase of Rs3,500, which had pushed the price to Rs272,000 per tola. On the global front, gold prices climbed further, with the APGJSA reporting the international rate at $2,622 per ounce (including a $20 premium), marking a $10 gain for the day.

In contrast, silver prices remained unchanged at Rs2,950 per tola.

Friday’s rise had set the previous record for gold prices in Pakistan at Rs272,000 per tola.

Today’s gold rate is Rs500 per tola more than the highest price observed in Pakistan’s history.
