KARACHI: After a slight surge at opening of 62.27 points at 09:32AM, the Pakistan Stock exchange (PSX) benchmark KSE-100 index showed continued fluctuations. By 09:38AM it was in the decline, down by 49.55 points, or 0.1 per cent.
After last night’s close of 47,671.21 points, the market was hovering at 47,621.66points as of 9:38AM.
The PSX has witnessed such openings, with a lack of clear-cut trajectory, over the past few weeks, a testament to the current economic situation in the country. With nationwide strikes on mounting electricity bills and a sense of disenchantment with conditions imposed by the International Monetary Fund, trader sentiments are likely to be affected.
Nationwide protests continue against inflated power bills
While the caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar is making efforts and holding meetings to potentially address this situation, the practical outcomes remain to be seen.
