WEB DESK: In a significant milestone for Pakistan’s automotive industry, Master Changan Motors Ltd. (MCML), a joint venture between Pakistan’s Master Group and China’s Changan Automobile, has successfully exported 14 Oshan X7 SUVs to Kenya.
This marks the first instance of cars made in Pakistan reaching the Kenyan and Tanzanian markets. The achievement coincided with the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and was celebrated at a ceremony held at MCML’s Port Qasim plant.
The company’s CEO at the event expressed enthusiasm about this achievement and highlighted the company’s plans for further expansions in international markets.
He stated that Kenya and Tanzania are just the beginning, as MCML aims to leave its mark in numerous other countries.
He also highlighted the role played by the Pakistani government’s policies in promoting and incentivizing the automotive industry, underscoring that the export of “Made in Pakistan” vehicles is contingent upon supportive federal policies.
The automaker has ambitious plans for the global market. With a substantial investment of $10 billion, Changan Automobile China is focusing on intelligent low-carbon core technology.
Master Changan Pakistan, serving as Changan’s right-hand drive (RHD) manufacturing hub, will be integral to Changan’s ‘Vast Ocean’ plan, targeting RHD markets worldwide.
