ISLAMABAD: Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, the Minister for Power Division, announced on Saturday that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has determined the quarterly tariff adjustment for the third quarter of the current fiscal year.

This adjustment will affect the billing months of June, July, and August.

According to the ministry’s statement, the tariff adjustment for June will be Rs1.90 per unit. This rate will decrease to 93 paisa per unit for the billing months of July and August.

Furthermore, the minister noted that a quarterly adjustment of Rs4.65 per unit will be collected in June. This amount will reduce to 93 paisa per unit in the subsequent billing months of July and August.

Leghari also mentioned that NEPRA had previously approved a tariff adjustment of Rs2.75 per unit for the second quarter, which is currently being recovered in the billing months of April, May, and June.

He clarified that NEPRA determines the quarterly tariffs for Distribution Companies (DISCOs), which are then recovered over the following three months.

This announcement is part of NEPRA’s regular adjustments to ensure that tariffs reflect the current costs of electricity production and distribution, aiming to balance the financial viability of power providers with the affordability for consumers.
