KARACHI: The oil sector of the country has reached out to the newly appointed Petroleum Minister, Ali Pervez Malik, seeking a meeting to address significant issues currently impacting the industry.

The Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), an independent entity that represents refineries, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), and a pipeline company, has formally made this request in a letter addressed to the minister.

The OCAC serves to advocate for the downstream oil sector in discussions at both government and non-government platforms, focusing on matters that affect its members (a list of which is included in the correspondence) to ensure the sustainability and viability of the sector.

In this letter, the OCAC conveyed its congratulations to the minister on his new role as the federal minister for petroleum within the Ministry of Energy and expressed its willingness to provide full cooperation and support for the advancement and development of the petroleum industry in the interest of the nation.

“For an extended period, our member companies have been encountering critical challenges, and we seek your assistance in finding solutions to these issues,” stated the oil body, while requesting a meeting to engage in discussions aimed at addressing these urgent concerns.
