Pakistan and US discuss economic cooperation, trade imbalance


Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Thomas Lersten of the US State Department to discuss trade and investment cooperation.

WASHINGTON: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb met with Thomas Lersten, Senior Official at the US State Department to discuss trade and investment cooperation.

The minister thanked the United States for its delegation at the recent conference about minerals in Pakistan. He expressed Pakistan’s commitment to addressing the trade ‘imbalance’ with the US and announced plans for a high-level trade and investment delegation to visit the US soon.

In a separate meeting, the finance minister engaged with the vice president of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), assuring support from the Ministry of Finance for investment initiatives.

Discussions included the potential for a trade finance facility to improve economic cooperation.
