Pakistani rupee up by 11 paisa against US dollar in early trade

KARACHI: On the second trading day of the week, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) showed a slight improvement against the US dollar (USD), rising 0.04 per cent during early trading hours in the interbank market on Tuesday.
By 11:30 AM, the rupee was trading at Rs277.75, gaining 11 paisa against the dollar.
For context, the Pakistani currency has appreciated by 0.17 per cent, or more than 48 paisa, against the dollar during fiscal year 2025. Since the start of 2024, the rupee has strengthened by Rs4, or 1.44 per cent.
However, on Monday, the PKR dropped by 12.36 paisa, or 0.04 per cent, closing the interbank session at Rs277.86 per dollar, compared to Friday’s closing rate of Rs277.74.
Meanwhile, the US dollar has been trading near a four-month high against major global currencies, while Bitcoin continued its record-breaking rally as investors increasingly backed trades expected to benefit from the incoming Donald Trump administration.
