PSX closing: KSE-100 gains 594 points

KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) main index, the KSE-100, concluded Thursday’s trading session on a remarkable note, reaching an all-time high of 67,142.12, marking a notable surge of 594.34 points, or 0.89 per cent.
Throughout the trading day, the index demonstrated consistent positivity, reaching an intraday peak of 67,246.03, an increase of 698.24 points, and a low of 66,690.94, up by 143.15 points.
The trading volume for the KSE-100 index stood at 231.314 million shares.
Among the 100 index companies, 70 experienced gains, 25 saw declines, 2 remained unchanged, and 3 were not traded.
Contributing to the rise of the KSE-100 index were sectors such as commercial banks, fertilisers, cement, oil and gas exploration companies, and oil and gas marketing companies.
Conversely, sectors like Leather & Tanneries, Transport, Real Estate Investment Trust, Miscellaneous, and Modarabas exerted downward pressure on the index.
Key companies boosting the index included BAHL, ENGRO, MCB, PPL, and LUCK, while others like SYS, ABL, SRVI, UPFL, and PKGP weighed it down.
In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 44,470.33, marking a net increase of 395.21 points.
Total market volume reached 421.118 million shares, up from 354.598 million shares in the previous session, with a traded value of Rs16.16 billion, representing a rise of Rs4.27 billion.
A total of 169,911 trades were reported across 350 companies, with 211 experiencing gains, 110 facing declines, and 29 remaining unchanged.
It’s noteworthy that during the fiscal year, the KSE-100 has seen a significant gain of 25,689 points, or 61.97 per cent, while the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 4,691 points, equivalent to 7.51 per cent.
