RAWALPINDI: In a significant move, Abdul Qudoos Toor, the Deputy Director of Weights and Measures in Rawalpindi, has issued a definitive directive. According to this directive, all sweets and bakery items must be sold based on their net weight, excluding the weight of the box or packaging.
Toor highlighted that all bakers and sweet shops in Rawalpindi have been found non-compliant, a serious violation that could lead to severe consequences.
According to the official communication, those found violating this regulation could face stringent penalties.
The price magistrate has been granted the authority to impose imprisonment for a period of up to three years or a fine of up to Rs100,000 in case of non-compliance.
According to Dawn, to ensure the dissemination of this crucial information, Toor has taken proactive steps by forwarding copies of the letter to the Rawalpindi and Murree deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners.
