Pay raise approved: govt employees set to receive increased salaries

WEB DESK: After receiving approval from President Dr Arif Alvi, the federal government has raised the minimum wages for employees amidst the escalating inflation in Pakistan.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance and Revenue, the minimum wage has been raised to Rs32,000 per month, starting from July 1, 2023.
This decision ensures that all federal civil servants will now receive a minimum monthly salary of Rs32,000.
Additionally, government employees currently earning below this newly established minimum wage will receive a special allowance to bridge the income gap.
This announcement follows a significant pay hike for government employees in November.
Revised salaries
Under these revisions, the minimum salary for MP-1 2017 employees saw an increase to Rs532,000, reflecting a raise of Rs33,000.
Similarly, the salary of MP-1 2023 employees was raised by Rs47,850, reaching Rs772,000.
According to ARY News, for MP-2 2017 employees, the salary was raised by Rs27,225, bringing it to Rs290,000. In comparison, MP-2 2023 employees now receive a salary of Rs421,000.
Moreover, the salaries of MP-3 2017 officers were increased to Rs181,500, while MP-3 2023 officers now earn Rs263,000.
These adjustments mark a significant step by the federal government to address the economic challenges faced by the workforce in light of the current inflationary pressures.
