WEB DESK: In a proactive move, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority cracked down on unscrupulous businesses in Nowshera, sealing several shops and imposing fines for adulteration and the sale of hazardous items.

This decisive action follows extensive sampling tests conducted by a mobile food testing laboratory, targeting various products such as milk, spices, tea leaves, beverages, and renowned national brands.

A dedicated team carried out thorough inspections across grocery stores, bakeries, naan shops, milk outlets, and wholesale vendors.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of 27 cartons of counterfeit national-brand milk packs, 30 kilogrammes of substandard tea leaves, 65 kilogrammes of substandard spices, 35 prohibited soft drink packs, and 10 bundles of fake chips. Additionally, expired beverages and chips beyond their shelf life were seized.

The enforcement team took stringent measures, sealing seven shops found to be flouting health preservation regulations and imposing fines on the violators.

This crackdown aligns with the commitment to maintaining health preservation principles, as emphasized by Food Safety Authority Director General Shafiullah Khan.

Commending the successful endeavours of the Nowshera team, Khan reiterated his non-negotiable stance on ensuring public safety and issued directives to intensify crackdowns against such nefarious elements.
