Tractor assembling in Pakistan surges by 54.72 per cent

WEB DESK: Tractor production in Pakistan surged by 54.72 per cent during the first ten months of the current fiscal year compared to the same period last year.

According to data from the Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association (PAMA), from July to April 2023-24, a total of 39,564 tractors were locally assembled, a significant increase from the 25,571 units produced during the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year.

In addition to the rise in production, local sales of tractors also saw a notable increase. Sales figures for the first ten months of the current fiscal year reached 38,282 units, marking a 56.61 per cent increase from the 24,442 units sold during the same period last year.

Massey Ferguson emerged as the leading tractor manufacturer, producing 25,748 tractors and selling 25,138 units during the reported period. This was a substantial rise from the 16,090 tractors produced and 14,981 units sold in the same timeframe last year.

Fiat also showed significant growth, with production numbers reaching 13,798 tractors over the past ten months, compared to 9,481 units in the same period last year. Fiat’s sales figures stood at 13,144 units, up from 9,463 units in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

These robust figures reflect a strong performance in Pakistan’s agricultural machinery sector, indicating a positive trend in local tractor manufacturing and sales.
