KU, Korean University signs MoU to initiate students exchange program

The University of Karachi and Kyungdong University Global of South Korea inked the memorandum of understanding on Thursday. The purpose of the MoU is to offer student, faculty, and staff exchange programs, joint research programs, and short vocational training programs for KU students and faculty.

The KU acting Vice Chancellor Justice Retired Hasan Feroz and the President of Kyungdong University Global Professor Dr John Lee signed the MoU documents at the VC Secretariat.

A three-member delegation from Korea including the President of Kyungdong University Global Professor Dr John Lee, the associate dean of international faculty and head of artificial intelligence at Kyungdong University Global Professor Dr Nur Alam, and the Managing Director of the Korean Universities Admission Centre Julia Jung visited the University of Karachi and met the KU acting VC Justice (R) Hasan Feroz, the Dean of Faculty of Arts Professor Dr Shaista Tabassum, the Dean of Faculty of Science Professor Dr Mussrat Jahan Yousuf, the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Professor Dr Muhammad Haris Shoaib, the faculty of the department of computer science and chemical engineering and the Director of Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization Dr Syeda Hoor-Ul-Ain and others.

On this occasion, Professor Dr John Lee expressed that there is a huge scope of academic collaboration between the KU and the Kyungdong University Global. He shared that the Korean University has initiated the Global Student Mobility Project and is a partner with many universities around the world, and currently, students from 80 different countries are enrolled in different programs at Kyungdong University Global.

According to him, the KU students after studying for one or two semesters at the University of Karachi can apply for the fully funded scholarships in the Kyungdong University Global, and on completion of the course, they would be awarded the degree of the Kyungdong University Global.

He shared the programs offered on the Kyungdong University Global campus and also offered to launch joint research projects and academic activities. Professor Dr Lee mentioned that to promote cultural understanding and language exchange, knowledge sharing, and other types of academic integration between the two universities, they can also initiate short-term vocational programs, workshops, and seminars for students, faculty, and staff members.

The KU acting VC Justice retired Hasan Feroz expressed that this would be a wonderful opportunity for the students and others as they could learn a lot from the experience of the faculty of the South Korean University, and the development of South Korea would enhance the vision and skills of our students and faculty.

He mentioned that the co-research projects would give new demission to the research, and during their stay in South Korea, our people would learn about their culture and development activities.
