President Arif Alvi advocates electronic voting machines

WEB DESK: President Dr Arif Alvi voiced concern on Saturday regarding the delayed results of the February 8 general elections, highlighting challenges with the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) Election Management System (EMS).

President Alvi, taking to social media, stated that if electronic voting machines (EVMs) were used, the country would have been spared the crisis.

He recalled the PTI-led government’s efforts for EVMs, emphasising the swift results they could provide.

The delay in announcing results, now nearly 72 hours post-election, has raised concerns among political parties, including the PPP.

President Alvi’s critique adds to the growing discussion on the need for electoral reforms, particularly the adoption of EVMs, for a more efficient and transparent election process in Pakistan.
