WEB DESK: Steven Knight, the mastermind behind the hit crime drama Peaky Blinders, will write the next James Bond film, Amazon MGM Studios announced on Thursday.

Knight joins forces with Dune director Denis Villeneuve, who was previously confirmed to helm the highly anticipated 26th installment in the iconic 007 franchise, the first since 2021’s No Time To Die.

The announcement follows Amazon MGM’s acquisition of creative control over the Bond films earlier this year, marking a new chapter for one of cinema’s most lucrative and enduring franchises, which has grossed over USD seven billion worldwide since 1962.

Knight, best known for crafting the gritty, turn-of-the-century gangster saga Peaky Blinders, has a prolific portfolio that includes Taboo, See, This Town, and Netflix’s All the Light We Cannot See. He also co-created the globally popular quiz show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and has authored four novels.

The Peaky Blinders series, which launched the careers of stars like Cillian Murphy and featured Tom Hardy and Kingsley Ben-Adir, remains a cultural phenomenon, with a film spin-off currently in development.

No title or release date has been confirmed for the upcoming Bond film. And while fan speculation continues to swirl, the franchise has yet to reveal who will succeed Daniel Craig as the next 007. Rumoured contenders include Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Harris Dickinson, Jacob Elordi, Ben-Adir, and Tom Holland, but for now, the search for Bond remains one of Hollywood’s best-kept secrets.
