WEB DESK: Netflix has announced that the first teaser for Stranger Things 5, the hit show’s final season, will premiere on July 16, with a full trailer expected later. The reveal came via a dramatic poster on X (formerly Twitter), featuring a blood-red sky and a shadowy figure, likely Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), hinting at the climactic battle ahead. The season will debut in three parts: Volume 1 on November 26, Volume 2 on December 25, and the finale on December 31.
The core cast, including Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Noah Schnapp (Will), and Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), will return for the Hawkins saga’s conclusion. Meanwhile, alleged leaks suggest a new psychic villain and Max (Sadie Sink) trapped in supernatural limbo, fueling fan theories ahead of the teaser’s release.
‘Boycott Stranger Things’: Noah Scnapp under fire for “Zionism is sexy” sticker
Earlier in January, Noah Schnapp, 19, faced scrutiny over a video showing him with pro-Israel stickers (“Zionism is sexy,” “Hamas is ISIS”). Critics accused him of endorsing genocide, prompting the Jewish actor to clarify his stance on TikTok: “I only want peace and safety for all innocent people affected by this conflict.”
Schnapp, who had his bar mitzvah in Israel, emphasised dialogue with Palestinian friends, expressing hope for hostage returns and reduced civilian casualties in Gaza. His co-star Brett Gelman defended him, calling Hamas “a terrorist organization” and Zionism “the belief that Israel should exist.” The video amassed 500,000+ likes, with Schnapp urging compassion: “We’re all human… I hope to see [both sides] live harmoniously.”
As Stranger Things gears up for its finale, the dual focus on its plot and cast members’ real-world controversies underscores the show’s cultural impact, both on and off-screen.
