WEB DESK: Two-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy has earned a nomination at the 46th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards for her film Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge.

The documentary, co-directed by Obaid-Chinoy and Trish Dalton, is nominated in the Outstanding Business and Economic Documentary category. It competes against productions from major platforms, including Netflix, HBO, Hulu, and PBS.

Produced by Sutter Road Picture Company and Fabiola Beracasa Beckman Media Production, the film premiered as the opening feature at the 2024 Tribeca Festival before its release on Hulu. It has already received international recognition, including the Cinema for Peace Dove Award for Women’s Empowerment.

Obaid-Chinoy, who has previously won five Emmy Awards out of 13 nominations, described the project as a tribute to women who defy limitations. “Diane’s story is one of courage and creative rebellion,” she said. “It’s a reminder that leadership comes from authenticity, perseverance, and vulnerability.”
