LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab said it arrested 12 terrorists linked to India’s RAW in Lahore, Faisalabad, and Bahawalpur, seizing a large cache of weapons, explosives, detonators, IEDs, and cash, effectively foiling a major attack
A CTD Punjab spokesperson said that photos, videos and location data of sensitive sites and government institutions were found from the arrested RAW operatives.
“The terrorists from the “Fitna al-Hindustan” group also had video and location data of a madrasa and a local fair. The Faisalabad-based terrorists were planning to spread fear, panic and religious hatred in Punjab,” the spokesperson said.
According to the spokesperson, the RAW terrorists arrested from Lahore were identified as Sukhdeep Singh, Azmat, Faizan, Nabeel, Abrar, Usman and Sarfaraz. The alleged terrorist from Faisalabad was identified as Danish.
He said that the Fitna al-Hindustan operatives arrested from Bahawalpur were identified as Rajab, Hashim, Saqib and Arif.
The CTD revealed that a Facebook ID named Adil, operated from India by RAW, helped in locating and arresting the terrorists.
The CTD also said that Sukhdeep Singh, a Fitna al-Hindustan operative, was a born Christian who had recently converted to another religion.
The spokesperson said that the Fitna al-Hindustan terrorists were being heavily funded by RAW, and investigations are ongoing with cases registered against all arrested individuals.
The CTD seized IEDs, seven detonators, two safety fuse wires (102 ft), mobile phones, cash and weapons from the terrorists, according to the spokesperson said.
