15 security personnel martyred as terrorists attack police checkpost in Tank: ISPR

WEB DESK: Fifteen personnel were martyred after terrorists attacked a police check post in Tank district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

According to the military’s media wing, terrorists launched what it described as a cowardly attack on the check post. Security forces responded promptly and foiled the attackers’ plans.

ISPR said the troops engaged the fleeing terrorists and killed 12 of them during the response operation.

The terrorists rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the check post, causing severe damage to the post’s infrastructure. As a result of the attack, 12 soldiers of the Pakistan Army, two police personnel and one forest department official were martyred, ISPR said.

The military’s media wing added that a search operation was under way in the area to eliminate any other terrorists present nearby.

ISPR said the campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam would continue until the elimination of “externally sponsored” terrorism. It added that the sacrifices of the martyrs further strengthen the nation’s resolve to safeguard national security.
