RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi met their lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Monday after months of repeated requests, with the 40-minute meeting focusing on their health, living conditions and legal cases.
Safdar said he met Imran after seven months and Bushra after 11 months following repeated applications and requests to the jail authorities.
In a post on social media platform X, the lawyer said the meeting took place at 4:30pm and lasted 40 minutes.

He said the limited duration was insufficient to discuss all the cases and legal matters involving the former prime minister and his wife.
Health and prison conditions discussed
According to Safdar, both Imran and Bushra briefed him on their health conditions and living arrangements inside the prison.
They also issued fresh instructions regarding certain legal matters and cases, he added.
The lawyer said the meeting did not provide enough time to discuss all the pending cases and other legal issues in detail.
Court orders on access to legal counsel
The meeting comes amid previous legal proceedings concerning access to Imran and Bushra for consultations with their lawyers.
In June, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) directed the Islamabad advocate general to arrange a meeting between the couple and their legal counsel within seven days to facilitate the preparation and prosecution of appeals against their convictions in the £190 million reference.
During the hearing, Safdar had informed the court that he was unable to meet his clients despite repeated attempts, leaving him without fresh instructions and the necessary signed legal authorisations to pursue the appeals.
The court expressed concern over the denial of access to legal counsel, observing that it could impede the administration of justice.
In a separate development in September, the IHC directed Adiala Jail authorities to ensure that neither Imran Khan nor Bushra Bibi was kept in solitary confinement. It also ordered authorities to facilitate meetings between them in accordance with prison rules.
