CUMBRIA: A memorial motorcycle procession, paying tribute to the late TV chef Dave Myers, concluded in Cumbria, United Kingdom (UK) with an estimated 45,000 bikers taking part.
Myers passed away in February at the age of 66 after battling cancer. He was honoured by a procession of bikers who journeyed from London to Cumbria, covering almost 483 kilometres.

The British television personality gained fame through his prominent role in the renowned TV show “Hairy Bikers”. The show skillfully merged culinary expertise with adventurous motorcycle travel. Dave Myers co-hosted the show alongside his close friend and fellow presenter, Si King.
The event, dubbed “Dave Day,” garnered a notable attendance, exceeding initial projections of 20,000 participants. Riders donned Hawaiian shirts, echoing Myers’ distinctive fashion, as they embarked on the extensive journey. The procession commenced in London and concluded in Cumbria.
The procession holds a special significance for Myers’ widow, Lili. She expressed gratitude to all the participants for their support, visibly moved by the occasion. Lili acknowledged that the event spanning several months has aided her in navigating through the grief of losing her partner.
Jason Woodcock organised the motorcycle procession. The concept for the extensive ride originated during the chef’s funeral, prompted by his widow’s suggestion for a memorial tribute to honour his legacy.
The social media response overwhelmingly supported the formation of the tribute event. Si King led the procession into Cumbria, where thousands of spectators lined the streets. Alongside Lily, King expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support.
