55,000 liters of Iranian diesel recovered in Karachi


Custom officials from Karachi seized illicit goods, including 55,000 liters of Iranian diesel, near the Hub Chawki Link Road.

KARACHI: Custom officials from Karachi seized illicit goods, including 55,000 liters of Iranian diesel, near the Northern Bypass – Hub Chawki Link Road on Thursday.

The operation was conducted by the Anti-Smuggling organisation. Besides Iranian diesel, the customs officials also recovered 17 non-custom paid cars, as well as tobacco products and electronic items.

During the operation, authorities also uncovered 5,000 kilograms (kg) of cash concealed in a dumper. Over the span of one week, a total of 71 non-customs paid vehicles and 25,000 liters of Iranian petrol were also seized in separate incidents.

The combined value of the confiscated vehicles and goods is estimated to be 13.15 million, according to customs officials. These efforts underscore the commitment of authorities to combat smuggling activities and maintain the integrity of the region’s economy.
