ISLAMABAD: Weeks after explicit videos of TikTok stars Imsha Rehman and Minahil Malik created an uproar in the country, prominent Pakistani television host and influencer Mathira has become the latest target of a privacy breach.
An alleged video showing Mathira in intimate moments, along with doctored images, surfaced online, igniting widespread discussion about privacy violations and the ethics of sharing private content on social media.
The authenticity of the video remains unverified.
Meanwhile, Mathira took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to address the situation, accusing detractors of fabricating and disseminating false material under her name.
“People are misusing my name and my photoshoot pictures and adding fake stuff in,” she wrote. “Please have shame! Keep me out of this trashy nonsense.”
The incident has drawn sharp criticism from her supporters, who condemned the spread of such content as a deliberate attack and a blatant violation of her privacy.
Echoes of Earlier Scandals
The controversy surrounding Mathira follows similar incidents involving TikTok influencers Imsha Rehman and Minahil Malik.
Rehman deactivated her social media accounts after her alleged videos went viral, prompting public outrage over the unchecked circulation of such material.
Malik, another popular TikToker, also faced public scrutiny when a video purportedly depicting her in a compromising situation spread online.
Denying the video’s authenticity, Malik called it a fabricated attempt to defame her. She has since lodged a formal complaint with Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
As public figures in Pakistan grapple with the challenges of digital visibility, the latest incidents highlight the need for a broader societal shift.
The debates swirling around these cases underscore questions about ethical boundaries, the role of social media platforms, and the consequences of unchecked privacy violations in the digital era.
