Alcaraz beats Djokovic to win Wimbledon title

Alcaraz beats Djokovic

LONDON: Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz beat Serbia’s Novak Djokovic 6-2 6-2 7-6(4) in the Wimbledon final on Sunday to successfully defend his title.

Alcaraz now has four Grand Slam trophies with a perfect record in major finals. He has won back-to-back Wimbledon titles, the 2022 U.S. Open and the French Open last month.

Carlos Alcaraz is a rising star from Spain that saw him showcase some of finest skills during his semi-final clash against Daniil Medvedev of Russia. The Spaniard faced an early setback, losing the first set in a closely contested tie-breaker.

Earlier, Novak Djokovic, a name synonymous with tennis excellence, continued his dominant run in the second semi-final. Facing Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego, Djokovic displayed his trademark precision and control over the match.

The Serbian tennis ace seized control early on, securing the first set 6-4. In tennis, each set is a collection of games, and winning six games with a margin of at least two over the opponent secures a set.
