Ariana Grande drops ‘Petal’ as her next era gets bigger than expected

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande is stepping into a new phase of her career, and it is shaping up to be far bigger than just a music comeback.

Fresh off her high-profile run as Glinda in Wicked, the Grammy-winning star has confirmed a new album while quietly lining up a wave of projects across film, television and theatre.

‘Petal’ sets the tone for her next chapter

Grande’s upcoming album ‘Petal’ is set for release on July 31, marking her return to music during a period of major transition.

The project was first hinted at through a studio teaser shared online, with the singer describing it as something shaped by growth and navigating difficult moments.

It will arrive midway through her ‘Eternal Sunshine’ tour, which begins in June and runs through September, her first major tour in years.

Hollywood calling and comedy pivot

Beyond music, Grande is making a clear push into acting.

She is set to appear in Focker-in-Law, the latest instalment in the Meet the Parents franchise, alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro, with the film scheduled for release in November.

She has also joined the cast of season 13 of American Horror Story, signalling a return to television in a high-profile ensemble.

Not leaving the stage behind

Grande is also heading back to her theatre roots.

In 2027, she will star in a West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park With George alongside Jonathan Bailey, marking her first major stage role in years.

The move reinforces her long-stated desire to balance music with acting and live performance.

Even more in the pipeline

Looking further ahead, Grande is attached to an animated adaptation of Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, reuniting with her Wicked director Jon M. Chu.

With a new album, a global tour, major film roles and a return to theatre all unfolding at once, Grande’s post-Glinda era is not a slowdown.

It is a full-scale expansion.
