Army chief meets Iranian president, discusses regional stability

RAWALPINDI: Army chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir called on Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday.
Both sides exchanged views on regional developments and peace initiatives, the military’s media wing said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), President Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s “constructive and responsible role” in promoting dialogue, de-escalation and regional stability, and acknowledged Islamabad’s efforts to support peaceful resolution of disputes amid heightened geopolitical tensions.
Field Marshal Munir reiterated Pakistan’s “unwavering commitment” to peace and stability in the region during the meeting.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-Iran relations and maintaining close consultations on issues of mutual interest, with a shared objective of advancing peace, prosperity and stability across the region, the ISPR said.
