Child martyr of Indian attack laid to rest

RAWALPINDI: The funeral prayers for seven-year-old Irtaza Abbas Turi Shaheed, son of Lieutenant Colonel Zaheer Abbas Turi, were held on Wednesday after the child was martyred in unprovoked Indian shelling in the Dawarandi sector of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the funeral was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Atta Tarar, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and a large number of civil and military officials, both serving and retired.

The prime minister strongly condemned India’s targeting of innocent civilians, calling it “a cowardly act of brutality.” “Targeting children is the worst form of inhumanity,” he said, vowing that Pakistan will respond with full force on all fronts.

President Zardari and Prime Minister Sharif prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks in paradise and for strength to their bereaved families. They asserted that Pakistan’s armed forces are standing firm against all acts of Indian aggression.

“India’s arrogance and war-mongering pose a grave threat to regional and global peace,” the premier warned, reiterating that violations of international law will not go unanswered.

Funerals of Muzaffarabad martyrs

Meanwhile, funerals of two youngsters, martyred in the attack on Bilal Masjid in Muzaffarabad were also held at Rawalakot, AJK.

A large of people attended the funerals, who showered flowers on the coffins of the martyred.

On the occasion, participants shouted slogans in favour of Pakistan army and condemned Modi’s aggression.

The two youngsters – Waqas and Hassan – belong to Forward Kahuta and Abbaspur areas of AJK, respectively.

Similarly, funeral prayers were also held for Muhammad Yaqoob who martyred in unprovoked Indian attack at the same mosque in Muzaffarabad.

Khawaja Asif warns of further escalation after Indian attack

Political, judicial, and community leaders, as well as hundreds of local residents attended the funeral held at the University Ground in Chehla.

Opposition leader in the AJK Assembly Khawaja Farooq also joined the funral.

Also, funerals were held for Ishtiaq Zameer, a resident of Kamir, Hajira, who was martyred in the Indian firing at LoC.
