Army’s top brass says regional stability hinges on restraint, respect for sovereignty

WEB DESK: Pakistan’s military leadership has reaffirmed its “unwavering resolve” to dismantle militant networks and safeguard national sovereignty against both internal and external provocations.

The 275th Corps Commanders’ Conference, which was chaired by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters on Tuesday, May 5, served as a high-level strategic review of the country’s evolving security landscape.

Counter-terrorism and regional accountability

The forum conducted a detailed assessment of Operation Ghazb lil Haq, with the military top brass vowing to maintain an intensified operational tempo until the threat of terrorism is decisively neutralised.

In a stern message directed at the interim Afghan government, the commanders expressed grave concern over the continued use of Afghan soil by militants.

The leadership dismissed Kabul’s recent claims regarding Pakistani strikes as “coordinated misinformation,” asserting that the sanctuary provided to the TTP and other affiliates remains the primary obstacle to regional peace.

Commemorating Marka-e-Haq and strategic readiness

The conference also marked the anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, highlighting the engagement as a symbol of the nation’s defiance against external aggression and the “lead-bound” unity between the public and the armed forces.

Addressing wider geopolitical shifts, including maritime security and the US-Iran friction, the commanders underscored the necessity of regional stability and restraint.

On the issue of Kashmir, the forum reiterated Pakistan’s principled support for the people of IIOJK.

Concluding the session, Field Marshal Munir directed all region’s commanders to ensure “maximum vigilance and adaptability” to counter the multifaceted security challenges facing the state.
