ISLAMABAD: Security forces conducted a major operation in the Shewa area of North Waziristan, killing 22 terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Tuesday evening.
During the operation, a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the slain foreign terrorists, who were involved in multiple attacks, the military’s media wing said.
According to the ISPR, the militants had used local civilians as human shields during the operation.
A clearance operation is still underway in the area as part of the ongoing counter-terrorism (CT) efforts under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” the ISPR said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the armed forces for the successful operation and the elimination of 22 terrorists.
The prime minister lauded their professionalism and bravery, saying that Pakistan’s armed forces stand like a “steel wall” against terrorism.
The PM Shehbaz reiterated that the government remains fully committed to eradicating all forms of terrorism from the country. The ongoing CT operations reflect significant progress under the national security strategy.
