Atta Tarar warns Taliban of ‘befitting response’ to attacks from Afghan soil

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Atta Tarar has said that Afghan territory is being used against Pakistan, warning that Islamabad will give a “befitting response” if such activities continue.

Speaking to Asma Shirazi on HUM TV’s programme “Faisla Aap Ka” on Thursday, Tarar alleged that the Afghan Taliban government was facilitating and patronising terrorists involved in attacks against Pakistan.

He said Pakistan would target the hideouts being used for terrorism against the country and would destroy the militant infrastructure in Afghanistan.

“If Afghan territory is used against Pakistan, a strong response will be given,” the minister said.

Tarar said that the Afghan government had launched drones towards Pakistan, which were intercepted and destroyed.

He said the sites from where the drones were launched had also been targeted.

The minister said Pakistan had shared videos of terrorist hideouts and sites involved in manufacturing drones, adding that Islamabad had evidence to establish that militant bases had been targeted.

He said Pakistan would continue taking measures to protect its territory and people.

Tarar further said that the Afghan Taliban government did not have the capability to harm Pakistan, adding that Islamabad would respond whenever Afghan territory was used for attacks against the country.

Earlier, Pakistan condemned a deliberate drone incursion from Afghan territory and said it had carried out precision strikes on 10 locations in Afghanistan used to launch and store the drones.

In a statement posted on X, Atta Tarar said the drone incursion on September 23 was a “blatant violation” of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and called it a “grave and unacceptable act of aggression”.

Tarar said Pakistan’s air defence systems had detected, tracked and neutralised all the drones before they could reach their intended targets.
