Attack on Cadet College Wana foiled, two terrorists killed: ISPR

Attack on Cadet College Wana foiled, ISPR says

ISLAMABAD: Security forces foiled a major terrorist attack on Cadet College Wana on Monday after militants rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the main gate and attempted to storm the campus.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attackers belonged to Indian-proxy outfit “Fitna al-Khawarij.” The statement said two attackers were killed in retaliatory fire, while three others managed to enter the college’s administrative block. A clearance operation is currently under way to eliminate the remaining assailants.

ISPR said the terrorists tried to breach the college’s security perimeter but were swiftly engaged by security personnel, preventing a larger tragedy. The blast damaged the main gate and nearby infrastructure.

The military’s media wing said the attackers attempted to replicate the 2014 Army Public School massacre in Peshawar, aiming to spread fear among students—especially those from tribal areas pursuing quality education to improve their future.

The statement further said that the militants inside the college are in contact with their handlers in Afghanistan, adding that the attacks are being directed by terrorist networks operating from Afghan soil—contrary to the Taliban’s claims that no such groups exist there.

ISPR said Pakistan reserves the right to respond to terrorists and their leadership, even if they are based in Afghanistan. It added that clearance operations against Indian-backed militants in the area are being intensified.

Security forces and law enforcement agencies, under the federal apex committee’s “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision, will continue the counterterrorism campaign with full force to eradicate foreign-sponsored militancy from the country, the statement concluded.

Earlier, security forces also killed 20 terrorists in two separate Intelligence-Based Operations (IBO) in KP.

Eight Indian-backed terrorists linked to the proxy group Fitna al-Khawarij were killed during the first Intelligence-Based Operation conducted in Shawal, North Waziristan.

More than 12 terrorists were killed in the second Intelligence-Based Operation conducted in Dera Adam Khel. Meanwhile, clearance and sanitization operations are ongoing to prevent any further attacks, said the ISPR.

ISPR added that under the Operation Azm-e-Istehkam (Resolve for Stability) operation, security forces continue to target terrorist networks to ensure the safety of local communities, using advanced intelligence and continuous monitoring.
