WEB DESK: The district administration has launched inspections of petrol pumps to ensure the implementation of the federal government’s recently announced reduction in petroleum prices and to prevent any violations by fuel retailers.
The federal government reduced the price of petrol by Rs74 per litre and diesel by Rs67 per litre in an effort to provide relief to consumers facing inflationary pressures and high transportation costs.
The reduction in fuel prices follows easing tensions in the region after Islamabad MoU was signed, and improvements in global oil market conditions. Officials said the latest adjustment is expected to lower transportation expenses and provide some relief to households and businesses.
To ensure that consumers benefit from the reduced prices, assistant commissioners and other officials have been conducting inspections at petrol pumps across various areas.
According to the administration, the revised prices were implemented at all petrol pumps from midnight immediately after the federal government’s notification was issued. Officials stated that no case of non-compliance had been reported so far.
Citizens have also been encouraged to report any petrol pump found violating the official rates. The administration has provided a complaint helpline, 051-9018084, for reporting overcharging or other irregularities related to fuel pricing.
