Authorities successfully contain Margalla Hills wildfire

ISLAMABAD: Authorities were able to successfully contain a wildfire in the Margalla Hills near the capital on Tuesday.
The fire brigade and personnel from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) successfully extinguished a fire that originated on Saidpur Range near Trail 3 and spread to Noor Pur Range on Trail 5, according to the CDA’s report.

Despite contending with strong winds and hot weather conditions, more than 200 firefighters actively engaged in the operation. They received support from two helicopters and fire tenders.
A team from Rawalpindi Rescue 1122 also provided assistance during the firefighting efforts.
Teenager’s body found in Margalla Hills
Meanwhile, authorities discovered the body of a missing teenager on Margalla Hills Trail 5 after an extensive search operation. The teenager had gone hiking with classmates and was reported missing on Saturday afternoon.
Despite extensive efforts by rescue teams and law enforcement agencies, the teenager’s body was discovered in a ditch along the trail. Law enforcement utilised drone cameras for aerial surveillance and questioned people as part of the search and rescue operation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the teenager may have lost his way and fallen into the ditch after slipping.
Further investigation is underway, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
