ISLAMABAD: A series of fires have erupted in three different locations on the Margalla Hills. Local authorities and national disaster management teams are trying to contain the spread and put out the fire.
The Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rumina Khurshid Alam has contacted the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman to request the deployment of a helicopter to help extinguish the fires. “Efforts are ongoing to put out the fire with the support of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and NDMA,” she said.

Significant sources have already been mobilised to deal with the fires, which have now spread to the Saidpur village range of the Margalla Hills.
“CDA teams have reached the spot to douse the fire,” confirmed a CDA spokesperson. Over 75 firefighters from the CDA are actively engaged in firefighting efforts, with additional teams dispatched to expedite control over the blaze.
However, the firefighting teams are facing challenges due to strong winds, which are hampering efforts to contain the flames. “All resources are being utilised to control the fire,” the CDA spokesperson added, noting the presence of the Rescue and CDA teams along with Rangers on the scene to oversee the operations.
