Bangladeshi aircraft set for removal from Karachi airport after nine years

Bangladeshi plane in Karachi to be removed

KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a notice instructing the removal of an aircraft belonging to Bangladeshi airlines that has been stationed at Karachi airport for a prolonged period of nine years.

Sources reveal that the issuance of the notice by CAA stems from a dispute over outstanding dues with the ground handling company, specifically concerning the United Airlines plane.

The aviation authority has formally directed the airline in question to expeditiously relocate the aircraft.

Published notices in leading newspapers emphasise the urgency of this matter, setting a deadline for the removal of the Airbus 310 aircraft belonging to United Airways by November 27.

Additionally, a stern warning has been issued, highlighting the possibility of confiscation should the aircraft not be relocated within the stipulated timeframe.

CAA officials underscore that the act of parking aircraft at Karachi Airport constitutes a violation of flight safety regulations.

Notably, sources indicate the presence of several decommissioned planes from the now-closed private domestic airline, Shaheen Air, at Karachi Airport. Addressing this issue requires decisive measures to ensure their prompt removal.

Importantly, it is worth noting that the prolonged presence of these planes is attributed to outstanding dues owed to various institutions, hindering their timely removal.
