Atletico Madrid produced a disciplined and determined performance to knock 10-man Barcelona out of the UEFA Champions League, advancing 3-2 on aggregate despite a 2-1 defeat on the night at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
The Spanish giants entered the second leg with Atletico holding a 2-0 advantage from the first match, but Barcelona came out with strong intent and quickly overturned the tie on aggregate with two first-half goals.
Teenager Lamine Yamal gave Barcelona the perfect start, striking inside four minutes after a defensive mistake from Clement Lenglet. The young winger showed composure beyond his years as he slotted the ball calmly through goalkeeper Juan Musso.

Barcelona doubled their lead in the 24th minute when Ferran Torres finished clinically after a well-weighted pass from Dani Olmo, firing into the top corner to level the tie and put Atletico under immense pressure.
However, Atletico Madrid responded strongly, refusing to collapse under the intensity. Their breakthrough came in the 31st minute when Marcos Llorente surged forward down the right flank and delivered a precise cross for Ademola Lookman, who finished confidently to reduce the deficit and shift momentum.
From that moment, Atletico grew into the match and began to control key phases, while Barcelona’s high defensive line started to show vulnerability.
The second half saw increased tension and physicality. Barcelona briefly thought they had regained control when Ferran Torres scored again, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Frustration began to creep into Hansi Flick’s side as Atletico defended resolutely.

The turning point came late in the match when Barcelona were reduced to 10 men after Eric Garcia was sent off for bringing down Alexander Sorloth, who was through on goal. The red card effectively ended Barcelona’s hopes of forcing extra time.
Atletico managed the closing stages with maturity, holding firm under pressure and surviving eight minutes of added time to secure their place in the semi-finals.
Diego Simeone’s side once again demonstrated their trademark resilience in European competition, reaching the last four for the first time since 2017 and keeping their dream of a first Champions League title alive.
More Misery for Liverpool as PSG Stamp authority
Paris Saint-Germain produced a composed and clinical performance at Anfield to eliminate Liverpool from the UEFA Champions League, sealing a 4-0 aggregate victory after a 2-0 win on the night.
Having already established a commanding advantage from the first leg in Paris, PSG entered the second leg with confidence but were tested by a spirited Liverpool side backed by a passionate home crowd.

Liverpool began brightly, pressing aggressively and attempting to overturn the deficit early. However, PSG remained organised and patient, absorbing pressure and waiting for opportunities to counterattack.
The breakthrough came in the 72nd minute when Ousmane Dembélé struck against his former club, finishing a swift attacking move involving Bradley Barcola. Dembélé curled a precise shot into the bottom corner from distance, silencing Anfield and effectively ending Liverpool’s hopes of a comeback.
Liverpool continued to push forward in search of a response, but PSG’s defensive structure held firm under sustained pressure. The French champions remained calm and controlled in possession, preventing the hosts from building momentum in the final third.
As Liverpool committed more players forward, gaps began to appear at the back. PSG exploited this in stoppage time when Barcola set up Dembélé once again, and the winger calmly slotted home his second goal of the night to seal a comprehensive victory.
The result confirms PSG’s place in the Champions League semi-finals for another season, continuing their strong European run in recent years. They will now face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the next round.
Liverpool, meanwhile, exit the competition after failing to overturn the first-leg deficit despite periods of strong performance at Anfield. Their attacking intent and intensity were not enough to break down a well-organised PSG side.
Ousmane Dembélé emerged as the decisive figure in the tie, delivering on the big stage with two crucial goals that underlined PSG’s attacking quality and clinical edge.
As the Champions League moves into its final stages, PSG once again position themselves as serious contenders for European glory, while Liverpool are left to reflect on missed chances and defensive lapses across both legs.
