Bilawal asks Sindh CM to monitor ‘lazy’ assembly members’ performance

bilawal bhutto

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed disappointment over the performance of Sindh Assembly members and sought their bimonthly performance report from the chief minister.
Addressing a meeting of the PPP Sindh parliamentary party in Karachi, Bilawal said, “Several months have passed since the election, and I am seeing laziness among the assembly members. You have won five times; it is crucial that you meet the expectations of the people.”
He noted that while some members were performing well, others were not. “In addition to parliamentary attendance, members must allocate time for their constituencies.”

He further emphasized the importance of securing funds from the federal government and focusing on solving problems with limited resources. He expressed hope that these issues would be resolved before the budget and that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would fulfill his promises.

“We want to avoid the politics of transfers and postings. We aim to have competent officers and demonstrate better performance. Any officers posted in Sindh should be on merit, and internal problems should not harm the party and the government.”

“I always favour teamwork. People are very disappointed with the politics of hate, as is the entire country. Our purpose in government is to serve the poor people, and we hope to meet the expectations of the province’s residents.”

He further stated that internal conflicts should not hinder performance. “PPP representatives should be the voice of the people and address their problems. “Implementing five-year projects is our top priority. The rehabilitation of schools destroyed by floods in Sindh is also a priority. Both the Sindh government and the federation have allocated some funds, and we hope to receive additional funds from the federation soon.”

He expressed his desire for the Sindh home minister to play a better role in maintaining peace. When the PPP first assumed government, many areas were no-go zones, and without a police squad, one couldn’t enter those areas, he said.
Bilawal also mentioned the desire to provide free electricity to the poor and to build a green park through a public-private partnership. “Nasir Shah will explain how they plan to provide electricity to the province’s poor.”

“In other provinces, anti-corruption measures are used against opponents. Assembly members should monitor officers in their districts. If any officer is causing disrepute, inform the leadership and the CM.”

He asked the Sindh chief minister to provide him reports on cabinet ministers every six months.

“Receiving performance reports of the ministers will facilitate our work. The Sindh chief minister should monitor the ministers’ office hours. I will review the cabinet’s performance every six months. CM shab, be strict with the ministers, similar to how children’s progress reports are monitored in school.”
