Bilawal meets Maulana Fazl, PTI calls on Mehmood Achakzai

As the NA session draws nearer, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited the residence of Maulana Fazl again, while PTI called on Mehmood Khan Achakzai

ISLAMABAD: As the National Assembly (NA) session regarding the proposed 26th constitutional amendments draws nearer, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited the residence of Maulana Fazl again.

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman was accompanied by Naveed Qamar, Murtaza Wahab and Jameel Soomro. The last-minute discussions are likely to focus on the PPP delegation courting the JUI-F chief to their side, as the passing of the proposed bill rests on the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) votes.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led government and PPP require an absolute majority in the parliament to pass any bill. The JUI-F holds a sufficient number of seats to form this majority.

The proposed constitutional amendments aim to restructure the country’s judiciary, including the establishment of a constitutional bench within the Supreme Court and changes to the appointment process for the Chief Justice.

The discussions between Bilawal and Maulana Fazl are part of a broader campaigning from each stakeholder to woo support for their side.

The JUI-F chief has been actively engaging with different political parties. During the meeting, he briefed the PPP delegation on the ongoing talks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other parties.

Meanwhile, the main Opposition party, PTI, reached the residence of Mehmood Khan Achakzai.
